Mumbai, (PTI): Reserve Bank of India Governor Shaktikanta Das highlighted the rupee's steady performance compared to its counterparts, citing "low volatility" and orderly movements. At the FIBAC event, Das noted that despite the rupee hitting an all-time low against the dollar recently, it regained ground due to its stable movements, attributed to India's strong macroeconomic fundamentals and robust foreign exchange reserves. He emphasized the central bank's commitment to reducing headline inflation to 4% and expressed a cautious but supportive stance on monetary policy, aiming to balance inflation control and economic growth. Additionally, Das stressed the RBI's focus on communication to manage household inflation expectations amidst global challenges, advocating for reforms in agriculture and connected value chains to ensure sustained growth and price stability.
